Turkmenistan and IRU discussed the development of the TIR system and the digitalisation of transport

On 11 September, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held a meeting with a delegation from the International Road Transport Union (IRU). The Turkmen delegation was led by the Deputy Chairman of the agency, while the IRU delegation was led by the Union's Senior Advisor, Vakhtang Zalandia. This was reported by IIC.

During the negotiations, the main focus was on cooperation in the field of international road transport using the TIR system. The key topic was the development of a roadmap aimed at simplifying procedures and improving the TIR guarantee mechanism.

The parties also discussed the introduction of digital technologies, exchanging their accumulated experience in modernising TIR procedures and using modern information systems. The IRU delegation also included representatives of THADA.
