At the World Robotics & Computer Science Olympiad, organised by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA), Turkmen students took first place in the ‘Computer Technology’ category with their project ‘Car rental using Artificial Intelligence.’ This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. From 28 July to 30 August, eleven students from eight universities in Turkmenistan are improving their language skills in Germany. The selected candidates represent the country's leading universities, including the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, as well as specialized institutions in the fields of medicine, engineering, pedagogy and international relations. The British Embassy in Ashgabat has begun accepting applications for the Chevening Scholarship Programme. Teachers from the Department of Romance-Germanic Languages and a trainee teacher from the Department of Foreign Literature at Magtymguly Turkmen State University (TSU) attended a two-week advanced training course at the University for Foreigners in Perugia (Italy). This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The training brought together Italian language teachers from different countries and included lectures, interactive classes, the study of modern teaching methods, the use of digital resources, as well as in-depth lessons on grammar, phonetics and lexicology. Participants also learned about the cultural and linguistic characteristics of Italian cities. According to the teachers, the trip contributed to the exchange of experience and the strengthening of international scientific and educational ties. The knowledge gained will be used to improve Italian language teaching methods in Turkmenistan. The event was held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between TSU and the University of Perugia, the oldest and most prestigious Italian university specialising in teaching foreign students and promoting Italian culture. Cooperation between Turkmen universities and Perugia continues, involving both teachers and students.
From 27 July to 3 August, the Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad hosted the 32nd International Mathematical Competition for Students (IMC-2025). The Turkmen team performed successfully, winning two gold, two silver and three bronze medals in the individual competition, according to the news agency Orient. A total of 434 students from 52 countries took part in the competition. Over two days, participants solved complex problems in algebra, analysis, combinatorics and geometry. The Turkmenistan team included representatives from five leading universities in the country: Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Turkmen State Architectural and Construction Institute, the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute and the State Institute of Energy of Turkmenistan. For the students, the Olympiad was not only a test of their mathematical skills, but also a unique opportunity to meet peers from different countries and establish new friendships.
From 12 July to 10 August, students majoring in Chinese language, led by G. Bayramova, a lecturer at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, are participating in an international summer internship at Northwest University in Xi'an (Shaanxi Province, China). This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The programme brought together Chinese language teachers and students from different countries, offering lectures, practical classes and master classes on modern teaching methods, as well as excursions to the university, museums and historical sights of Xi'an, the city where the Great Silk Road began. Participants learned about Chinese culture and traditions, including the tea ceremony. The internship promotes the exchange of experience, the development of intercultural relations and the improvement of professional skills. In addition, from 14 to 26 July, G. Rejepova, a language teacher at a university in Turkmenistan, took part in advanced training courses at the same university.

A group of French language teachers from leading universities in Turkmenistan has completed a professional training course at the Francophonia Language Centre in Nice. The event, organised with the support of the French Embassy and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of French language teaching in the country. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. During the intensive programme, teachers from Turkmen State University, the Institute of World Languages and other educational institutions studied innovative approaches to teaching. Particular emphasis was placed on digital technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, as well as interactive methods combining theatrical and musical elements. The cultural part of the programme included educational excursions around Nice, where participants learned about French traditions and the history of the language. The internship ended with a gala concert, at which the Turkmen delegation performed the national dance ‘kushtdepdi,’ which was met with enthusiasm by the international audience. This educational event marks a new stage in the development of French-Turkmen cooperation in the field of education, which began with the visit of the President of France to Turkmenistan in 1994.
Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, 13 new educational programmes will be introduced at universities in Turkmenistan: four specialised programmes, five bachelor's programmes and four master's programmes. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal, citing the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’. The programmes will be launched at six leading universities in the country, including institutes in the fields of engineering, telecommunications, energy, architecture, finance and economics. Among the new specialisations are transport logistics, railway automation, AI and data analysis systems, information technology, banking, tax and financial management, and energy conservation.
Students and teachers from the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan completed an internship in Romania at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, as well as at ‘Tenaris’, ‘Bosch’ and ‘Emerson’, according to the news agency Asmannews. The internship was part of an inter-university agreement and aimed to strengthen knowledge in the fields of telecommunications, automation and programming. Participants visited laboratories and production sites, where they attended training sessions and master classes on modern digital technologies. During the visit, the Turkmen delegation presented their partners with books by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and gave a presentation dedicated to the motto of 2025 – ‘International Year of Peace and Trust’.
The Turkmenistan team achieved impressive results at the 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2025) in Paris, winning four medals and three special awards. This outstanding success demonstrated the high level of training of the country's young physicists. This was reported by the IIC. The silver medallists were sisters Aysenem and Mahriban Kakamyradova, while the bronze medals went to Jumadurdy Nuryev and Dovlet Annamyradov. Nurgeldi Annagurdyev was awarded an honorary diploma for his worthy representation of Turkmenistan at the prestigious competition. The individual achievements of the participants received special recognition. Aysenem Kakamyradova received a special prize as the best among the female participants, and Nurgeldi Annagurdyev was awarded the prestigious Thales STEM Award for outstanding abilities in science and technology. The Turkmenistan team was also recognised with the ITER Award for promoting the principles of diversity, highlighting not only academic achievements but also the social significance of the country's participation in international educational initiatives.
The large-scale educational programme C5+ONE (‘Opening Networks Through English’), organised with the support of the United States, continues in Almaty. Among the 27 Turkmen participants are teachers from universities and secondary schools who, together with colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, are improving their teaching methods and language skills. This was reported by the IIC. The programme, which started in May 2025, includes three consecutive stages. After completing the online course, participants began a face-to-face intensive course in Almaty, which will last until 3 August. The final stage will be a nine-month period of professional development and networking. According to the organisers, the key objective of the initiative is not only to improve English language skills, but also to establish sustainable professional ties between specialists in Central Asia. This should contribute to regional integration and more active inclusion of countries in the international educational space. Turkmen teachers are actively involved in the learning process, studying modern approaches to teaching. It is expected that upon their return, they will be able to apply the knowledge gained in the national education system, contributing to the improvement of language training for students and schoolchildren.
