Turkmenistan promotes cultural cooperation at UNESCO session

A delegation from Turkmenistan, under the headship of the country's Minister of Culture Atageldi Shamyradov, is participating in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which is being held in Samarkand from 30 October to 13 November. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The opening of the conference was attended by Chynar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to France Maksat Charyev, and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Uzbekistan Shadurdy Meredov.

The meetings discussed issues related to youth support, peacebuilding, digital integration of cultures, sustainable tourism development and heritage preservation, as well as the exchange of experience between national commissions.

In his speech, Minister of Culture A. Shamyradov emphasised the role of the National Commission of Turkmenistan and international cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, noting that the country's participation in UNESCO contributes to strengthening mutual understanding between peoples and promoting common educational, scientific and cultural initiatives.
