President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, held in Dushanbe and chaired by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
In his speech, the Head of State emphasised the importance of the CIS as an effective platform for equal dialogue and joint decision-making on pressing issues. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, adhering to the principle of neutrality, actively participates in economic, transport and logistics, energy and humanitarian cooperation within the Commonwealth.
The Head of State emphasised the importance of implementing the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, expanding the North-South and East-West transport corridors, and the participation of countries in the region in the formation of the Caspian logistics hub. The President of Turkmenistan paid particular attention to the development of innovative and scientific-technical cooperation, as well as the strengthening of cultural and educational ties.
The President of Turkmenistan announced his country's readiness to assume the chairmanship of the CIS in 2026 and promised that a concept for the chairmanship aimed at further strengthening cooperation between the Commonwealth countries would be presented in the near future.
During the summit, the results of the CIS's work over the year were summarised, priorities for the next period were identified, and a number of documents were signed.
Concluding his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the host side for its hospitality and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial relations within the CIS.
