Turkmenistan leads in speed of transit procedures in Central Asia

Turkmenistan continues systematic work to improve the efficiency of regional transit routes. This is evidenced by the results of an express study conducted in October-November 2024 by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the study, the average time of transit cargo passing through the state border of Turkmenistan is 50 minutes - the best indicator among Central Asian countries. By comparison, it is 2 hours 26 minutes in Kazakhstan, 1 hour 50 minutes in Tajikistan, 1 hour 28 minutes in Kyrgyzstan and 1 hour 25 minutes in Uzbekistan.

This result was possible due to digitalisation and introduction of modern technologies in the activities of the State Customs Service. These measures made it possible to optimise and unify procedures, which noticeably accelerated cargo clearance.

The achievement points to Turkmenistan's growing role as an important and reliable logistics hub between Europe and Asia, where speed and technology become important competitive advantages.
