Turkmenistan and Japan discussed aspects of economic cooperation

On 27 June, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Hiroyuki Tsubai, member of the Board of Directors, Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, President of the machine-building company, and Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Economic Cooperation Committee. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The guest expressed gratitude for the reception and noted the interest of Japanese business in cooperation with Turkmenistan, emphasising the favourable investment climate in the country. In turn, the Head of State confirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Japanese relations based on mutual respect.

The President of Turkmenistan recalled his visit to Japan in April, during which important agreements were reached, including Turkmenistan's participation in the ‘Expo 2025’. H.Tsubai, in turn, emphasised the significance of the initiatives put forward by the President during those talks and reported on steps to implement them.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of economic cooperation. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the contribution of Japanese companies, including ITOCHU Corporation, to Turkmenistan's industry and expressed readiness to expand partnership, especially in new areas.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan thanked the Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation for his contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and wished him success in his future work.
