The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Director of the Asian Development Bank's Representative Office in Turkmenistan Arthur Andrysiak in the city of Arkadag. The parties noted 25 years of successful experience of cooperation and discussed the implementation of the new Partnership Strategy for 2024-2028, paying special attention to the issues of ‘green’ economy and structural transformation. An important outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Construction Committee of Arkadag and ADB. The document lays the foundation for co-operation in the development of energy and water infrastructure of the new city, created according to the principles of ‘smart’ and environmentally friendly settlement.

The agreement provides for the introduction of modern energy and water saving technologies, as well as the development of alternative energy, which is in line with the concept of sustainable development of Arkadag as a modern administrative centre of the country.
