Turkmenistan customs authorities strengthen ties with UNODC

The Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held a meeting with Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Central Asia. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme, implemented with the support of the UNODC, paying particular attention to the activities of port control groups in Turkmenbashi, Ashgabat and Farap, as well as plans to create a new group.

The topics of the negotiations included improving the work of customs authorities, strengthening regional security and combating transnational crime. The issue of granting official status to the Regional Training Centre of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and holding joint events was considered separately.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation in the field of security and sustainable development.
