During his visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with King Mswati III of Eswatini on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The parties discussed prospects for the development of inter-state relations. King Mswati III highly appreciated the organisation of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), noting Turkmenistan's contribution to the promotion of sustainable development.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan, relying on its neutral status, seeks to strengthen ties with African countries. An important step was the recent signing of the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Eswatini, which creates a basis for cooperation in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties expressed confidence that the new diplomatic relations will contribute to strengthening peace, stability and rapprochement between the peoples. At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged good wishes.
