Turkmenistan and the IAEA discussed key issues of cooperation

On the sidelines of the 69th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Azat Ovezov and IAEA Deputy Director General Liu Hua. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme, including the development of nuclear medicine, peaceful atomic energy infrastructure, radioactive waste management and the country's participation in the Agency's projects.

The imPACT mission, which took place last week with the support of the IAEA and WHO, was noted separately. Experts highly appreciated Turkmenistan's efforts in the fight against cancer and identified key areas for further work.
