On 7 July, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, received Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who had arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit. This was reported by the TDH news agency.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation. Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed greetings to the Hero Arkadag from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and noted the high level of bilateral relations.

The Chair of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasised that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening friendly, fraternal and good-neighbourly ties with Azerbaijan. It was noted that cooperation between the two countries is steadily expanding and encompasses bilateral and multilateral formats, including cooperation within the framework of the UN.

The parties also highlighted the role of regular high-level dialogue in deepening the partnership. Hero Arkadag emphasised the significance of the recent state visit by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the Republic of Azerbaijan and expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the vessel ‘Dostluk’, which was presented to the Turkmen people.

Particular attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including the holding of Turkmenistan Culture Days in Baku and Ganja and Azerbaijan Culture Days in Ashgabat and the city of Arkadag.

In addition, preparations were discussed for the international event ‘Ene-tebigat’ (‘Mother Nature’), which is scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan from 19 October to 30 November, jointly organised by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations.
