The European Union has highlighted Turkmenistan’s role in the climate agenda of Central Asia. According to the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" news agency, this was stated by Maciej Adam Madalinski, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, at a regional conference on methane emissions reduction held in Ashgabat on October 29–30.

The diplomat noted Turkmenistan’s commitment to international efforts to reduce methane emissions and emphasized the importance of the country’s participation in addressing climate issues at the global level.

Madalinski also highlighted the participation of the state concerns "Türkmengaz" and "Türkmennebit" in the UN-backed Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), a global initiative aimed at monitoring and reducing emissions in the fuel and energy sector. He also recalled the European delegation’s participation in the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2026" (OGT 2026) in Ashgabat.

The EU representative reaffirmed the readiness of European countries to support Turkmenistan and other countries in the region in reducing methane emissions, introducing advanced technologies and developing clean energy.

The regional conference, titled "From Methane Data to Action: Strengthening Methane Emissions Management, Mobilizing Capital and Advancing Regional Cooperation in Central Asia", is being held on October 29–30. It was organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as the Global Methane Hub (GMH).
