The Turkmenistan national sambo team won eight medals at the World Championships among boys, girls, and juniors, which concluded on October 5 in Bogor, Indonesia. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal.

The team won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Islam Hemrayev (up to 71 kg, combat sambo, juniors) and Alihan Aydogdyev (up to 58 kg, combat sambo, juniors) became world champions.

The final in the 58 kg category was not held due to an organisational error: due to a change in the start time of the fights without notifying the participants, both finalists — Aydogdyev and Russian Artem Nesterov — were declared winners and received gold medals.

Silver medals were won by Rasul Jabrailov (up to 64 kg), Malikberdi Begiyev (up to 88 kg) and Ykbal Saparova (up to 50 kg). The bronze medallists were Ilshat Dovranov (up to 58 kg), Myahriban Palvanova (up to 59 kg) and Annamuhammet Annamuhammedov (up to 64 kg).

The tournament was held in Indonesia for the first time and brought together 371 athletes from 34 countries, who competed for awards in sports and combat sambo in the 16–18 and 18–20 age categories.
