On 1 September, Ashgabat hosted the grand opening of the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, timed to coincide with Knowledge and Student Youth Day. The ceremony was attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, according to the state news agency TDH.

The new university is the first non-state higher education institution in Turkmenistan. The authorities call its creation an important step in the modernisation of the national education system and in supporting the private sector. The emergence of such a university opens up new opportunities for training specialists focused on the market economy, the introduction of innovations and work in accordance with international standards.

The university's programmes cover areas such as entrepreneurship and management, economics and finance, digital technologies, agribusiness, construction and engineering. Teaching will be conducted in Turkmen and English, which, according to the organisers, will allow students to integrate into the global educational space and be competitive in the global labour market.

The modern campus includes academic buildings, laboratories, a library with electronic resources, a sports centre, dormitories and leisure facilities for young people. The university intends to attract foreign teachers and actively develop cooperation with foreign universities and companies, which will give students the opportunity to undertake internships and participate in joint projects.

The opening of the university will be an important step towards shaping a new generation of managers, entrepreneurs and specialists. It is expected to introduce best practices, strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy and enhance the country's role in the international education and business sectors.
