On 28 June, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with Jung Won-ju, Chairman of the Board of ‘Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.’ This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The guest congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the second anniversary of the opening of the city of Arkadag and conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung. He also noted the progress achieved by Turkmenistan and expressed interest in expanding cooperation.

During the meeting, the prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed, including projects in the oil and gas industry, the chemical industry and the development of the city of Arkadag. Particular attention was paid to the participation of Korean companies in the creation of a medical cluster and compliance with environmental standards.

At the end of the meeting, Jung Won-ju announced the decision of the Korean Taekwondo Federation to award the Hero Arkadag the ninth dan, the highest degree of mastery in this sport. The certificate and special uniform were presented by the Head of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation, Jeong Kapkil.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty expressed his gratitude for the recognition and emphasised the importance of developing taekwondo and other sports among the youth of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also supported the idea of a meeting between the Head of the Federation and Turkmen athletes.
