The film ‘Magtymguly Pyragy’ won the Grand Prix at the film festival in Bulgaria

The joint feature film by Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, ‘Magtymguly Pyragy,’ continues to receive recognition on the international stage. This was reported by IIC.

After its success in London and Kazan, the film won the Grand Prix at the 13th International Film Festival organised by the Academy of Television, Film, and Internet Communications of Bulgaria (ATKIK).

The film, shot by renowned Uzbek director Muzaffarhon Erkinov in collaboration with ‘Turkmenfilm’ film studios and the Uzbek cinematographic organisation, is dedicated to the life and work of poet Magtymguly Pyragy. Filming took place in Bukhara, Khiva and picturesque natural locations.

Ahmet Amanmyradov played the lead role, while the poet's father was portrayed by People's Artist of Turkmenistan Chary Berdiyev. The actors' performances, the direction and the artistic design of the film were highly praised by the jury and viewers.

The award in Bulgaria was an important confirmation of the professional level of joint cinema and the interest of the world audience in the cultural heritage of the two countries.
