Turkmen FIFA referee Resul Mamedov is participating in the second module of an international seminar on the VAR system, which is being held from 1 to 5 December in Tashkent. The event, which brings together FIFA referees from AFC countries, allows participants to hone their skills in analysing game situations and making the right decisions with the help of VAR. The seminar is being held at the renovated training centre of the Uzbekistan Football Association, located near Tashkent. The first module of the seminar was earlier held in the Uzbek capital. Upon completion of the course, R. Mamedov will be eligible to join the team of referees for AFC Champions League matches.
Construction has begun in Ashgabat on a modern ‘Toyota’ dealership centre, which is being built in accordance with international requirements and the brand’s corporate standards. The project is being implemented by the company ‘Beýik Ýüpek Ýoly’ in conjunction with ‘Toyota Central Asia’ with the support of Japanese investment, according to the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan. The 2.79-hectare complex on G. Kuliyev Street will become a 3S centre, combining car sales, service and a warehouse for original spare parts. The two-storey building will house a showroom and a full-cycle service centre. The car dealership will implement a ‘New Retail Concept’ with the main element being a ‘Customer Hub,’ where visitors can get advice, study models, and use digital services. The service area will provide all types of work, from technical inspection and diagnostics to engine repair, bodywork, electronic system calibration and software updates. Simultaneous servicing of eight cars will increase speed and convenience for customers. The complex will include a body shop, a detailing area and a modern car wash. A test drive area will also be set up. The centre will offer the latest ‘Toyota’ models, including hybrids, and provide warranty and post-warranty service. Construction is scheduled for completion in December 2027.
Professor Arianeb Mehrabi from Heidelberg University Hospital in the Federal Republic of Germany is visiting Turkmenistan, where he is sharing his experience with local specialists. During his visit to the multidisciplinary hospital in Arkadag, the professor examined patients who had undergone kidney transplants and noted the high level of technical equipment at the medical facility. According to the professor, the medical infrastructure of Arkadag is based on modern technologies, and the quality of care provided meets advanced international standards.
An extended training course on the use of a modern tool for joint assessment of zoonotic disease risks within the framework of the ‘One Health’ approach was held in Turkmenistan. This was reported by the IIC. The event, organised by the WHO, was aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation, developing surveillance and increasing preparedness for biological threats. WHO experts presented participants with modern methods for analysing epidemiological data, assessing risk factors and identifying vulnerabilities, as well as practical approaches to developing response measures. The programme included studying the structure of the risk assessment tool, working with probability and consequence matrices, analysing scenarios of interagency cooperation, and modelling situations related to zoonotic infections. The training was attended by specialists from veterinary services, health care, environmental protection agencies and other structures working with biological and epidemiological risks. The State Veterinary Service was represented by Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations. A. Soltanmyradov noted that the introduction of an international risk assessment tool significantly strengthens epidemiological surveillance, improves data exchange between agencies and increases the country's preparedness for possible outbreaks of zoonotic diseases. The use of the tool allows for the rapid identification of threats, improved interaction between sectors, the formation of a common understanding of risks, and increased resilience of national health and veterinary control systems.
A conference organised by the International University for the Humanities and Development (Turkmenistan) and a branch of Kent State University (USA) was held in Florence. The event was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. This was reported by the Orient news agency. After the conference, the delegation from the Turkmen university held working negotiations with their American partners, which was a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024. The Turkmen side familiarised itself with the campus infrastructure and international educational projects of Kent State University. During the discussions, the parties confirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation, develop academic mobility programmes and joint scientific and educational initiatives. Particular attention was paid to the preparation of a dual MBA degree programme. Following the meeting, areas for further work were agreed upon: student and teacher exchanges, the development of joint courses, the implementation of research projects, the organisation of summer schools and the improvement of educational approaches. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the results achieved and their intention to expand their academic partnership.
Three boxers will represent Turkmenistan at the IBA World Championships, which will be held in Dubai from 4 to 13 December. The team was formed based on the results of training camps in Uzbekistan, according to the state news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. In the weight category up to 60 kg, 25-year-old Yhlas Gylychjanov will compete. He has been participating in international tournaments since 2017 and competed in the 2018 Asian Youth Championships under the auspices of the ASBC. In the 71 kg category, 23-year-old Bayramdurdy Nurmuhamedov has been announced. In two years, he has won a number of international tournaments and became a bronze medallist at the 19th Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou. In the super heavyweight category (over 92 kg), 24-year-old Dovlet Islamov has been included in the team. This year, he competed in the international tournament in memory of Sagadat Nurmagambetov in Kazakhstan. The prize fund for the world championship is $8.32 million. The winners will receive $300,000 each, the silver medallists $150,000 each, and the bronze medallists $75,000 each.
A professional development programme for doctors, involving professors from Pusan National University in South Korea, has come to an end in Turkmenistan. The course was held at the International Educational and Scientific Centre of Turkmenistan, according to Turkmenportal. The delegation included specialists in acupuncture, herbal pharmacology and the basic theory of Korean medicine. The programme consisted of four stages: lectures, practical classes and demonstrations. The doctors studied diagnostic and treatment methods, mastered acupuncture and rehabilitation techniques, as well as methods of using medicinal herbs and herbal remedies. Special attention was paid to the analysis of clinical cases. The organisers noted that the aim of the course was to expand the professional skills of Turkmen specialists and strengthen international cooperation in the field of healthcare. Previously, Turkmen doctors underwent training at the Korean Medicine Hospital at Pusan National University, where they learned about the combination of traditional methods and modern technologies. At the end of the programme, participants received certificates of completion.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his condolences to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka over the floods caused by heavy rains. The Academy of Public Administration under the President of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific and practical conference on the role of the country's neutrality in strengthening stability in Central Asia and the world. The UAE plans to double its trade volume with Turkmenistan in the coming years, said Ahmed Alhay Hamad Khamis Alhameli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Turkmenistan, in an article for the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’ on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. The diplomat noted that in 2024, bilateral trade (excluding oil) reached $1.759 billion, an increase of 75% over 2023 levels. At the end of the first nine months of 2025, the UAE became Turkmenistan's third largest trading partner. The Ambassador noted the active development of cooperation, especially in the energy sector, including ADNOC's entry into the Turkmen market. He recalled the signing in May 2024 of a production sharing agreement for the development of gas fields in Caspian Block No. 1 with the participation of XRG, Petronas and Turkmen state structures, as well as the conclusion of a long-term gas supply contract.
