Administrative-territorial division changed in Turkmenistan

The Chairwoman of the Turkmenistan Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, signed a Resolution ‘On Issues of Administrative-Territorial Division,’ which provides for the creation of a number of new etraps in four velayats of the country and the clarification of the boundaries of existing administrative units. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. According to the document, new etraps will be formed in the Ahal, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary velayats: Altyn Asyr (Ahal velayat, centre - the city of Altyn Asyr); Garashsyzlyk and Gubadag (Dashoguz velayat, centres — the cities of Andalyp and Gubadag); Dovletli, Farap and Garabekevul (Lebap velayat, centres — the village of Dovletli, the cities of Farap and Garabekevul); Oguzhan (Mary velayat, centre – Parahat settlement). The Resolution also defines the redistribution of land plots and settlements between etraps, as well as the transfer of the administrative centre of the Akdepe etrap of Dashoguz velayat to the city of Akdepe. In addition, a new village, Kepele, has been created in the Ahal velayat, while the geneshlik of Gorjav has been abolished. In the Lebap velayat, the villages of Gyrteki, Hojashulluk and Malik have been removed from the list of administrative-territorial units due to a lack of population. The Ministry of Agriculture and the velayat hakims have been instructed to describe the boundaries of the new etraps. Changes will also be made to the list of administrative-territorial units of Turkmenistan, approved in 2010.


The President of Turkmenistan honoured citizens on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of independence

In honour of the 34th anniversary of independence, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree awarding citizens with state honours. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Decree notes the contribution of citizens to strengthening the sovereignty and international authority of the country, as well as the development of the economy, science, culture, sports, education and healthcare. The awards were given for achievements in the oil and gas, construction, industrial, agricultural and other sectors, the introduction of new technologies, the improvement of production and the quality of services, as well as for successes in the arts, journalism, physical culture and public activities. Particular attention was paid to the work of specialists, creative and sports teams, the education of young people in the spirit of devotion to the Motherland, and the strengthening of Turkmenistan's international image. Citizens who have been awarded orders and medals were nominated for the awards.


Serdar Berdimuhamedov honours a number of foreign citizens

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree awarding a number of foreign citizens with the ‘Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna’ anniversary medal. Turkmenistan has created a law on the legal basis for a policy of neutrality

Speaking at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the development of a draft Constitutional Law ‘On the Legal Foundations of the Policy of Peace and Trust of Neutral Turkmenistan.’ This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The law establishes the legal basis for Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the principles for its implementation in international relations, including neutrality, equality, good neighbourliness, non-use of force, non-participation in military alliances, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and respect for sovereignty. The policy aims to use the opportunities offered by neutrality and preventive diplomacy in the spirit of the UN, develop trust-based relations, strengthen regional and global security, and create conditions for the country's sustainable development.


Turkmenistan is developing the West-East and North-South transport corridors

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, emphasised the importance of developing transport infrastructure in the West-East and North-South directions. Head of State noted the active development of passenger and freight transport by all modes of transport and the use of the country's international transit potential. According to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is cooperating with the UN and other international organisations, as well as working on the development of the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor and the creation of a multimodal route from the Asia-Pacific region to Europe. Training for chemotherapists held in Ashgabat

From 16 to 18 September, the UNFPA office in Turkmenistan organised a training course for chemotherapists and gynaecological oncologists from all regions of the country. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. Participants learned about modern methods of treating cervical cancer, breast cancer and other types of cancer. The training was conducted by UNFPA international consultant Bruce Oliver Hough, an American oncologist. The event was part of the UNFPA's cooperation programme with the Government of Turkmenistan, aimed at developing the healthcare system and improving the qualifications of specialists in the field of reproductive health.


The Ministry of Health and WHO held a joint meeting in Ashgabat

Turkmenistan implements new industrial project with ‘Mitsubishi’ and ‘Gap İnşaat’

As part of the strategy to strengthen the country's export potential, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution granting the State Concern ‘Türkmenhimiýa’ the right to conclude an agreement with the Japanese company ‘Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.’ and the Turkish company ‘Gap Inşaat Yatirim ve Diş Tiсaret Anonim Şirketi’. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The document provides for the design and construction of a modern industrial complex with the improvement of adjacent territories in the Turkmenbashi etrap of the Balkan velayat. The new plant will have a capacity of 1.155 million tonnes of urea per year. According to the Resolution, construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and the complex is expected to be fully operational in February 2030.

On 18 September, a festive event entitled ‘Turkmen-Uzbek Relations – at a New Historical Stage’ was held in Tashkent to mark the 34th anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was organised by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan, the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Issues of Compatriots Abroad, and the Turkmen National Cultural Centre. The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, cultural centres, universities, the media, as well as students from both countries. Welcoming speeches were made by Shadurdy Meredov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kahraman Sariev, Chairman of the Committee, Guldane Avezdurdyeva, Deputy of the Oliy Majlis and Head of the Turkmen National Cultural Centre.
