The President of Turkmenistan noted the importance of cooperation between states and organisations

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the plenary meeting of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, stressed that the current global situation requires closer cooperation between states and international organisations to maintain peace, security and sustainable development, according to the state news agency TDH. Head of State said that Turkmenistan had initiated the inclusion of the item ‘Neutrality for Peace and Security’ on the agenda and would present a draft resolution on the role of neutrality in peacekeeping processes. The President of Turkmenistan also recalled that 2025 has been declared the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust’ and announced plans to hold an international forum in Ashgabat, as well as a World Summit on Culture of Peace and Trust. Among Turkmenistan's initiatives, the following were highlighted: the establishment of an International Day of Mediation, the holding of a forum entitled ‘Central Asia – a Space for Peaceful Coexistence’, the proclamation of a Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035), and the adoption of a resolution on the importance of energy connectivity. The President of Turkmenistan focused separately on the climate and environmental agenda, proposing the creation of a Regional Centre for Combating Desertification and the promotion of the Caspian Environmental Initiative. The Head of State also spoke in favour of establishing an International Day of Multilingual Diplomacy. Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that cooperation with the UN is a strategic priority for Turkmenistan and proposed declaring 2028 the Year of International Law. He also recalled the 30th anniversary of the recognition of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and thanked the international community for its trust. In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan wished the delegations success in strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding.

During his visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Portuguese Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The parties emphasised the friendly nature of their relations, based on equality and mutual respect, and expressed their readiness to develop cooperation and utilise existing potential. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Portugal regularly support each other's initiatives in the international arena, including work within the UN. In this context, Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled the decision of the UN General Assembly to declare 2025 the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust’ and invited the President of Portugal to an international forum in Ashgabat on 12 December. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa thanked him for the invitation and noted that Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality strengthens its international authority. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral relations and wished each other success.

During his visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the first day of the high-level plenary meeting of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and delivered a speech. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Head of State emphasised that neutrality remains the basis of Turkmenistan's domestic and foreign policy and an important tool for strengthening peace, stability and trust in the international arena. The President of Turkmenistan noted the country's readiness to continue practical steps to develop dialogue, cooperation and diplomatic settlement of conflicts. Among Turkmenistan's initiatives are the inclusion of the issue ‘Neutrality for Peace and Security’ on the session's agenda, the holding of a World Summit on the Culture of Peace and Trust, an international forum ‘Central Asia - a Space for Peaceful Coexistence,’ as well as the establishment of an International Day of Mediation and a Day of Multilingual Diplomacy. Particular attention is paid to sustainable development: it has been proposed to declare a UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026-2035), to create a Global Platform for Digital Integration, and to establish a Regional Centre for Combating Desertification in Central Asia. Turkmenistan intends to promote the Caspian Environmental Initiative and organise the Caspian Environmental Forum in 2026. Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that cooperation with the UN is a strategic priority for the country. In this regard, the Head of State proposed to declare 2028 the Year of International Law, emphasising the importance of strengthening the legal foundations of the world order. In his speech, the Head of State of Turkmenistan also recalled the 1995 Resolution on the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, thanking the international community for its support. At the end of his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov proceeded to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, from where he departed for Turkmenistan. The Head of State was met by officials at Ashgabat International Airport.

Turkmenistan and Kuwait have outlined key areas of bilateral relations

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah identified the fuel and energy complex, transport and communications as promising areas for the development of bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The negotiations took place during the President of Turkmenistan's working visit to the United States. Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised Turkmenistan's strategic geographical location and its rich natural resources, which create conditions for the implementation of large-scale international projects. In this context, the President of Turkmenistan expressed his readiness to cooperate in the creation of the East-West and North-South transport and transit corridors, as well as in the promotion of major energy initiatives, including the construction of a gas pipeline (TAPI). Touching on the political agenda, Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled that, on the initiative of Ashgabat, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan invited Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah to participate in the international forum, which will be held on 12 December in Ashgabat.


The Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries in Bishkek

On 23 September, Nurmuhammet Golliyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic, took part in the III Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian Countries in Bishkek. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The participants discussed strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, economic interaction, migration policy and digitalisation. The Ambassador and First Secretary of Turkmenistan to Pakistan visited Bahria University

BOMCA 10 provided Turkmenistan with equipment for quarantine control

As part of the ‘Border Management in Central Asia’ (BOMCA 10) programme, the State Plant Quarantine Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan received new IT and laboratory equipment worth €17,598. This was reported by IIC Turkmenistan. The delivery includes 20 sets of computers with monitors for regional departments and border posts. In addition, the service received eight laser printers and one colour printer. To improve the efficiency of cargo control through the Single Window for Export and Import Operations system, specialists received four tablets. Five digital microscopes were also installed at key checkpoints, which will speed up and improve the accuracy of decisions made.
