At the World Weightlifting Championship among youth and juniors in Lima (Peru), the Turkmen national team showed an impressive result, winning 12 medals. The competition was attended by 531 athletes from 77 countries. This is reported by the online edition of "Turkmenistan: Golden age". Junior athlete Anamjan Rustamova (up to 87kg) brought gold honours to the country. Despite sixth place in the snatch (108kg), she took revenge in the jerk (141kg) and climbed to the top step of the podium with a total of 249kg. This is a serious progress for the athlete, who a year ago in Spain was satisfied with only bronze. Kakamyrat Annamyradov (under 73kg) took 1 bronze and 2 silvers; Didarbek Jumabayev (under 81kg) took 3 silvers; and Islam Akmyradov (under 96kg) took 1 bronze and 2 silvers. 15-year-old Ogulshat Amanova added a bronze medal in the 101kg javelin, continuing her streak of success at the World Championships. These results confirm the growing skills of Turkmen weightlifters and the effectiveness of the coaching staff under the leadership of Meretguly Sakhatmyradov and Akhmet Sariyev.
At the end of the final match of the AFC Challenge League, two players of the Turkmen club Arkadag were honoured with awards, having played a key role in the club's victory. This is reported by Turkmenportal news website. According to the source, Altymyrat Annadurdyyev was the author of the winning goal scored in the 112th minute of extra time. This goal not only brought the club a trophy, but also made the forward the top scorer of the tournament with five goals. Shanazar Tirkishov was recognised as the most valuable player of the final. His game had a determining influence on the success of the Turkmen team.
The final match of the AFC Challenge League ended in Cambodia, where the Turkmen club Arkadag won a willful victory over Cambodia's Svay Rieng with the score 2:1. Turkmen team's defender Mekan Saparov opened the score in the 59th minute. However, Svay Rieng levelled the score in the 82nd minute, taking the match into extra time. Turkmenistan's rhythmic gymnastics team travelled to Guangzhou, China, to participate in the international tournament ‘EAST CUP & Olympic Stars’. This is reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The selection to the national team was preceded by the national championship held in Mary velayat. The tournament gathered about 60 gymnasts from all over the country. The tournament was held under the updated FIG rules for the 2025-2028 cycle, emphasising artistry and aesthetics. Within the framework of the championship 12 sets of awards were played. Ashgabat gymnasts won 9 gold medals (M.Ilyasova, A.Geldiyeva, L.Avanesova, F.Kambarova, L.Chorekliyeva, S.Gulberdiyeva, F.Gunaslan, M.Orazova, V.Kurdupova), one each - gymnasts from Mary (H.Akmuradova, L.Soyunova) and Balkan (M.Pomanova) velayats. At the tournament in Guangzhou left 13 gymnasts under the guidance of head coach Firuza Ayvazova and her colleagues. Taking into account the previous successes of the national team at the tournaments in Tashkent, high results are expected from the athletes.
Turkmenistan's U17 and U19 girls' handball teams successfully performed at the IHF Trophy Women-2025 Asian Zone III tournament held in Faisalabad (Pakistan). Both teams won silver honours, losing only to Uzbekistan, the IIC of Turkmenistan reports. In the U17 age category, Turkmen athletes confidently defeated the teams of Pakistan (38:18), Tajikistan (53:6) and Kyrgyzstan (36:18). The opponents of the Turkmenistan national ice hockey team at the 2026 World Championship have been revealed. Based on the results of previous tournaments and the new team distribution, the Turkmen national team will compete in Group A of Division II. Turkmen judoka Oguljan Ruslanova won a bronze medal at the Quba Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025, which concluded in Azerbaijan, where 354 athletes from 12 countries participated. However, in the fight for third place, Ruslanova demonstrated confident technique and, thanks to the "waza-ari" assessment, defeated another representative of Russia - Alina Chekmareva, securing a place on the podium.
At the ongoing Youth World Weightlifting Championship in Peru, Turkmen athlete Islam Akmyradov won a silver medal in the 96 kg weight category. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. In the total of the two lifts, I. Akmyradov achieved a result of 316 kg — 141 kg in the snatch and 175 kg in the clean and jerk. The champion in this weight category was Armenian athlete Grigor Kazaryan, who totaled 330 kg (145 + 185). The bronze medal went to Indian representative Parv Chaudhari with a total of 315 kg (140 + 175). This is not the first medal for the Turkmenistan team at the tournament: earlier, silver medals were awarded to Didarbek Jumabaev (up to 81 kg) and Kakamyrat Annamyradov (up to 73 kg). Ogulshat Amanova won bronze in the clean and jerk event and placed fourth overall in the 55 kg weight category.
