Turkmenistan's U17 and U19 girls' handball teams successfully performed at the IHF Trophy Women-2025 Asian Zone III tournament held in Faisalabad (Pakistan). Both teams won silver honours, losing only to Uzbekistan, the IIC of Turkmenistan reports. In the U17 age category, Turkmen athletes confidently defeated the teams of Pakistan (38:18), Tajikistan (53:6) and Kyrgyzstan (36:18). Among the best players Selbi Mollaeva, Aidane Garadzhaeva and Angelina Lopatina were noted. In the U19 category, the opponents' composition changed - instead of Kyrgyzstan, the national team of Mongolia took part. The Turkmen team again lost only to Uzbekistan, having shown a convincing result in matches against Pakistan (50:17), Tajikistan (60:9) and Mongolia (44:12). Leaders of the national team include Sevara Ikhtiyarova (goalkeeper), Bagtynyyaz Muhammedova, Farida Akhmedova and Safiye Yalchinkaya.
The opponents of the Turkmenistan national ice hockey team at the 2026 World Championship have been revealed. Based on the results of previous tournaments and the new team distribution, the Turkmen national team will compete in Group A of Division II. This is reported by the International Information Centre of Turkmenistan. Among the opponents of the Turkmen athletes are the national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, the Republic of South Africa, as well as two new teams in the division: the national team of Mexico, which has risen from a lower tier, and Thailand, which has fallen from Group B of Division I.
Turkmen judoka Oguljan Ruslanova won a bronze medal at the Quba Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025, which concluded in Azerbaijan, where 354 athletes from 12 countries participated. This was reported by the state news agency "Turkmenistan: Golden age". A student of the 11th grade of secondary school No 61 in the Charjev etrap of the Lebap velayat competed in the weight category up to 70 kg, where 18 athletes from eight countries contested for medals. In her first match, Ruslanova achieved a swift victory over Azerbaijan's Rena Akhmadova, finishing the bout with an "ippon" in 30 seconds. In the second match, despite trailing during the encounter (with an assessment of "yuko" and two penalties), she managed to compose herself and secured a clear victory over the Russian Sofia Yarmantovich, who competed under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF). In the semifinals, the Turkmen athlete lost to Georgian Nini Dzagania by a point "yuko" in a tense fight. However, in the fight for third place, Ruslanova demonstrated confident technique and, thanks to the "waza-ari" assessment, defeated another representative of Russia - Alina Chekmareva, securing a place on the podium.
At the ongoing Youth World Weightlifting Championship in Peru, Turkmen athlete Islam Akmyradov won a silver medal in the 96 kg weight category. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. In the total of the two lifts, I. Akmyradov achieved a result of 316 kg — 141 kg in the snatch and 175 kg in the clean and jerk. The champion in this weight category was Armenian athlete Grigor Kazaryan, who totaled 330 kg (145 + 185). The bronze medal went to Indian representative Parv Chaudhari with a total of 315 kg (140 + 175). This is not the first medal for the Turkmenistan team at the tournament: earlier, silver medals were awarded to Didarbek Jumabaev (up to 81 kg) and Kakamyrat Annamyradov (up to 73 kg). Ogulshat Amanova won bronze in the clean and jerk event and placed fourth overall in the 55 kg weight category.
