The Turkmenistan national traditional karate team won 18 medals at the Asian Championships in Tashkent. The team won 9 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals, according to IIC. Gold medals were won by Azym Govshudov, Aylar Ilhanova, Amangozel Bekmyradova, Damir Allaberdiyev, Sylap Toylymyradov, Aysha Ilgeldiyeva, Meylis Charyev, Aylale Artykova and Oguljennet Mammetgylyjova. Silver medals went to Aysulu Rejepova, Rahman Shagulyev, Medine Gaylyeva, Daniyar Bagtiyarov, Yhlas Annagurbanov and Selim Myratdurdyev. Bronze medals were won by Gurbandurdy Byashimov, Rahym Akmyradov and Yhlas Jumanazarov. The team is already preparing for new international tournaments. It keeps on strengthening its positions in world competitions.
Turkmenistan has launched Central Asia's first research centre for training Olympic athletes. It began operating at the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, according to IIC. The centre is equipped with the same gear used by top sports schools in Germany, Japan, and the US. It has BOD POD and Cosmed systems, which are used at the Olympic centres in Salt Lake City and Tokyo. To test speed and reaction time, they use the SpeedCourt system, which is familiar from the ‘Bayern Munich’ and ‘Real Madrid’ academies. Höhenbalance technology has also been introduced, allowing high-altitude conditions to be simulated. The centre works in conjunction with the institute's departments. Students have access to real measurements and practical training in the fields of sports medicine and biomechanics. The aim of the project is to form a scientific basis for the training of national teams and qualified specialists.
Turkmen tennis players achieved remarkable success at the Davis Cup zonal tournament, winning the right to compete in Group IV of the Asia-Oceania zone in 2026. The competition was held on the courts of the Polytechnic University in Isa Town, where 14 teams from Group V competed for two spots, according to the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. In the group stage, Turkmenistan confidently defeated all its rivals in Group C — Brunei, Bangladesh and Bahrain — 3:0. In the play-offs, the team faced Guam. The Turkmenistan national sports acrobatics team won eight bronze medals at the 14th Asian Championships. The competition was held in the state of Goa (India), according to Turkmenportal. The tournament was attended by 173 athletes from six countries: China (Hong Kong), North Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India and Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan was represented by a men's group in the 13-19 age category: Ishan Babayev, Danil Vasilyev, Azim Amanov and Muhammet Ashyrov. The team was led by head coach Roman Shevchukov. The Turkmenistan national team represented the country with dignity at the World Sambo Championships, held in Bishkek from 7 to 9 November, winning eight medals of various denominations. In men's sports sambo, Guvanch Begaliyev won silver in the 98 kg category. In combat sambo in the 58 kg weight category, Hakberdi Jumayev took second place. Among women, Sabina Agajanova won the silver medal in the over 80 kg category, and Ziba Orunova won the bronze in the 65 kg weight category. The Football Federation of Turkmenistan (FFT) is actively developing cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation in the field of refereeing. As part of this work, Turkmen futsal referee Didargeldi Kovusov took part in an AFC seminar at the Referee Academy in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), according to the IIC of Turkmenistan. The seminar is part of the AFC Referees Academy's annual programme, which includes four modules with theoretical and practical classes to develop decision-making skills on the field. The final test will determine which referees will be included in the AFC's elite list of futsal referees and will be able to work at international tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and the AFC. On the first day of the World Sambo Championships in Bishkek, the Turkmenistan team won two medals: silver and bronze.
