Textbooks on Arabic language, journalism and digital technologies published in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen State Publishing Service has released a series of new textbooks for the education system. Among them is the textbook ‘Phonetics of the Arabic Language’ by G. Gurbannazarova, intended for students of linguistics. The publication contains modern phonetic norms, rules and exercises based on research by Turkmen and foreign scientists. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. A manual entitled ‘Creative School for Young Journalists’ has been prepared for future journalists, authored by the well-known Turkmen journalist Agamurat Mammedov. The book reveals the basics of the profession, from genre characteristics to the techniques of writing articles and editing materials. This is the author's fourth textbook on journalism. Twelfth-grade students will study from a new textbook entitled ‘Information, Communication and Innovative Technologies’. It provides a detailed overview of modern digital technologies, the principles of network operation and the basics of cybersecurity. Practical assignments will help students consolidate their knowledge.


The Ambassador of Turkmenistan met with students of Brest State University

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belarus, Nazaruly Shagulyev, visited the Brest State A.S. Turkmen university hosts seminar on artificial intelligence

As part of a working visit to Turkmenistan, Melda Yildiz, Doctor of Education at the New York Institute of Technology (USA), visited the International University for the Humanities and Development. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The visit began with a meeting with university lecturers specialising in the digitalisation of the educational process, the introduction of artificial intelligence into teaching practice, and the development of digital platforms and modern educational technologies (EdTech). The discussion focused on current trends in education and their practical application in teaching and administrative activities. The next stage was a seminar conducted by Melda Yildiz for students and teachers on ‘Digitalisation, IT and Artificial Intelligence in higher education.’ The participants were representatives of STEM disciplines – engineering, technical, mathematical and natural sciences. The seminar was devoted to modern approaches to the integration of STEM methodologies into the educational environment and their significance for the digital transformation of higher education.


Turkmen student wins prize at Astrakhan Olympiad

Jemshit Hudaykulov, a student at the preparatory department of Astrakhan State Technical University from Turkmenistan, took third place in an inter-university mathematics competition. This was reported by the online publication ‘Big Asia’. The competition, which brought together foreign students from various universities in Astrakhan, was held as part of the events dedicated to the Days of Slavic Literature and Culture. In addition, the university hosted an Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language for first-year students. J.Hudaykulov's success was the result of his perseverance and commitment to his studies. The Olympiad confirmed the high level of training of foreign students at Astrakhan universities.


In Turkmenistan, winners of the international competition of youth scientific projects were awarded

The ceremony was held as part of the celebrations for Turkmenistan Science Day, World Environment Day, and the 30th anniversary of the country's neutrality. The event was jointly organised by the Turkmen Agricultural University, the Turkmenistan Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the Ministry of Education. This information was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. A total of 131 applications were submitted to the competition from universities in Turkmenistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and other countries. After the preliminary round, 36 projects advanced to the final, and the jury selected the 18 best ones. The Grand Prix was awarded to students from Iran and Turkmenistan, representing their countries' leading universities. The awards were distributed among participants from Belarus, Russia, and Turkmenistan. The projects were evaluated based on criteria such as relevance, innovation, scientific validity, and practical applicability. As part of the award ceremony, exhibitions dedicated to scientific achievements and environmental protection activities were held at the university's Cultural Centre. The event continued with a concert programme featuring the participation of the university's creative communities. This competition, held for the third time, promotes the development of international scientific cooperation, support for talented youth and the promotion of sustainable development ideas.


Magtymguly Turkmen State University entered the Impact Rankings 2025

The Magtymguly Turkmen State University has been included in the authoritative global Impact Rankings 2025 compiled by Times Higher Education (THE). This ranking reflects the contribution of universities from around the world to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Delegation of Kent State University visited IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On 18 June 2025, a meeting was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with a delegation from Kent State University (USA) led by Vice President Marcello Fantoni. The parties discussed the implementation of joint educational programmes within the framework of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding, as well as the exchange of experience in developing curricula, according to the press service of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Kent State University has signed three Memoranda of Understanding with higher education institutions in Turkmenistan, including the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State Architectural and Construction Institute, with the aim of developing academic and scientific projects and strengthening cultural ties. The guests visited the institute's educational and cultural facilities, including the Museum of Diplomacy, the UNESCO Club, and the German and Turkish language libraries. The visit was an important step in strengthening the partnership and promoting Turkmenistan in the international educational arena.


Austrian professor visits Turkmenistan's Telecommunications Institute

David Pommerenke, Professor of Electrical Engineering at Graz University of Technology (Austria), paid a working visit to the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan. The Austrian expert's visit was aimed at strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between universities in the two countries. US expert introduced the STEM approach at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a seminar on ‘Digitalisation, IT and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education,’ dedicated to the introduction of the STEM approach into the educational process. The event was conducted by Melda Yildiz, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Fulbright Scholar and lecturer at the New York Institute of Technology. Japanese Ambassador to Turkmenistan presents books to Ashgabat school

Hiroshi Sasaki, Japan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, visited Specialised School No. 140 in Ashgabat. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. As part of the international initiative READ JAPAN PROJECT, the diplomat donated books about Japan to the school. The READ JAPAN PROJECT, launched in 2008, aims to distribute English-language literature about Japan to universities and libraries around the world.


Turkmenistan participated in an international educational forum in Kazan

An official delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Amanov, took part in the Third International Forum of Ministers of Education ‘Shaping the Future,’ held on 11 June in Kazan. Turkmenistan and Russia continue to increase co-operation in key areas

Currently, more than 47,000 citizens of Turkmenistan are studying at Russian universities, of which about 7,000 are receiving education at the expense of the Russian Federation's state budget. This was reported by Ivan Volynkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, in an article for the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’, according to the news resource Turkmenportal. According to him, there is still a lot of interest in Russian culture in Turkmenistan. In the first half of 2025, performances by Albert Zhalilov, Honoured Artist of Tatarstan, İlya Kuzmin, soloist of the E.V.Kolobov ‘Novaya Opera’ Theatre of Moscow and the musical groups ‘Turk's Choir’ and SOPRANO were sold out in Ashgabat. Kolobov, and the musical groups ‘Turetsky Choir’ and SOPRANO. The Russian film festival held in March also received a positive response from the audience. The Ambassador noted that Russia remains one of Turkmenistan's leading trade and economic partners. Major Russian companies such as ‘Gazprom’, ‘Tatneft’, ‘Kamaz’, the ‘Vozrozhdenie’ group of companies and others operate in the country. Interregional ties remain an important area of cooperation. Among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan and Chelyabinsk regions are the most active. According to the diplomat, Moscow and Ashgabat demonstrate similar positions on key issues of the global and regional agenda, including ensuring international security. He recalled that at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, a resolution initiated by Turkmenistan, ‘2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust,’ was adopted, with Russia as a co-author. ‘Our interests also coincide within other international platforms, such as the CIS, the Caspian Five and the OSCE,’ Volynkin emphasised. This year, Turkmenistan is co-chairing the highest bodies of the CIS and plans to assume the chairmanship in 2026. One example of strengthening cooperation was the 16th International Economic Forum ‘Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,’ held in Kazan from 13 to 18 May. The Turkmenistan delegation was led by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
