Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, a meeting of Deputy Heads of government of the Caspian littoral states was held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. This was reported by the news website Turkmeportal.
During the meeting, key areas of joint work to reduce the negative impact of the shallowing of the Caspian Sea were discussed.
An initiative was proposed to launch a multilateral mechanism for cooperation that would allow the development of common standards and approaches to studying changes in the Caspian Sea.
It was noted that the Coordination Committee for Hydrometeorology of the Caspian sea could serve as a platform for joint information exchange. In this context, the parties expressed hope for the intensification of regional negotiations on the issue of the shallowing of the Caspian Sea within the framework of the Tehran Convention.
