An organisational seminar dedicated to the launch of a joint project of the Government of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the development of the National Animal Identification and Traceability System (NAITS) was held in the capital's Archabil Hotel on 20 May this year. This is reported by the IIC.

At the event, Head of the International and Scientific Relations Department of the State Veterinary Service Arslan Soltanmyradov emphasised the strategic importance of creating a modern system of animal records for the development of the veterinary service and agriculture of the country. He noted that the implementation of the project corresponds to the tasks set by the leadership of Turkmenistan to modernise the agrarian sector and increase the export potential of livestock products.

FAO international experts Eran Reisman and Dragan Angelovski presented world practices of building animal identification systems to the participants of the seminar. During the discussions, special attention was paid to the development of the regulatory framework, creation of a digital platform and training of personnel to work with the new system.
