UNDP and UNIDO held a series of environmental events in Ashgabat to mark International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This was reported by the online publication Arzuw.news.

The initiative aims to raise environmental awareness among young people about ozone layer protection and climate change. On 11 September, an educational programme kicked off at School No. 55 with an interactive quiz and a symbolic tree planting ceremony. On 15 September, a similar event was held at School No. 15, where students discussed environmental ideas.

The closing event took place on 16 September at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University with lectures and discussions for students and teachers. The campaign highlighted Turkmenistan's contribution to international environmental agreements, including the Montreal Protocol and the Tehran Convention.

The project is part of a joint effort by UNDP and UNIDO to engage young people in the fight against climate change.
