The Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3) is opening at the Avaza Congress Centre. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres addressed the participants. In his speech, he stressed the need to review existing international rules and standards in order to facilitate the free movement of people and goods.

According to António Guterres, cooperation with neighbouring countries is of key importance, especially in the development of infrastructure that provides reliable land routes for trade and logistics. This is particularly important for countries that depend on imports or exports through other territories.

The conference programme emphasises the importance of the international community's participation. Developed countries are encouraged to promote the dissemination of advanced technologies and achievements more actively, creating conditions for sustainable growth in the least developed regions. This will enable the citizens of these countries to integrate more fully into the global economy.

The UN Secretary-General expressed his hope that the forum in Turkmenistan would be a significant step forward in promoting the issues of landlocked countries and would contribute to the inclusion of their interests in the agenda for reform of the global financial and economic system.
