From 14 to 17 October 2025, the city of Surabaya (Indonesia) hosted the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA 2025) international competition, which brought together young scientists from dozens of countries around the world. This was reported by IIC Turkmenistan.

Participants included representatives from Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, China, India, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Iran and other countries.

Turkmenistan was represented at the forum by students from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University, Gadyr Orazberdiyev and Selbi Kerimgulyeva, who presented a project entitled ‘In silico and AI-driven design of novel inhibitors against the 23S gene of clarithromycin-resistant Helicobacter pylori.’

The researchers used AI and computer modelling methods to create new compounds against the bacterium that causes gastrointestinal diseases. The work was highly praised by the jury: the project was awarded a gold medal and the ‘Semi Grand Award’, confirming the growth of the scientific and innovative potential of Turkmenistan's youth.
