President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has announced plans to build three large chemical plants in different regions of the country, according to the news website Turkmenportal.

A urea production complex will be built in the Balkan velayat, the second phase of a gas-to-gasoline plant will be built in the Ahal velayat, and a mineral fertiliser plant will be built in the Mary velayat.

The Head of State emphasised that the development of the chemical industry is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's economy: investments are being actively attracted to the industry and modern technologies are being introduced, which contributes to the creation of new production facilities and the manufacture of products from local raw materials.
