From 26 to 30 May 2025, the Public Health and Nutrition Centre of Turkmenistan is hosting a training for national trainers on prevention, surveillance and treatment of zoonotic diseases. The event is organised with the support of the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan within the framework of the Pandemic Fund project aimed at strengthening pandemic preparedness through a ‘One Health’ approach in Central Asia. It is reported by IIC.

The participants of the course were specialists of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan. Professor Natalia Pshenichnaya, WHO international consultant on zoonosis control, conducts the classes.

According to Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the International and Scientific Relations Department of the State Veterinary Service, the course plays a key role in strengthening the country's capacity to control zoonoses, which contributes to improving epidemiological well-being and protecting human and animal health.

The main objective of the training is to train national trainers, who will subsequently conduct cascade trainings for specialists at regional and local levels.
