On 14 June, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Head of the foreign ministry, Rashid Meredov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for further development of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia. Particular attention was paid to the recent telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries, which allowed them to coordinate their positions on key issues of cooperation.

The diplomats also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov to Turkmenistan, which will be an important step in strengthening bilateral ties. The humanitarian component of cooperation was noted separately. In particular, the Russian diplomat expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for its prompt assistance in organising the emergency landing of a Russian S7 Airlines airliner flying from Novosibirsk to Dubai.

The Turkmen side provided 170 passengers, including 22 children and 10 crew members, with everything they needed: food, drinks, medical assistance and comfortable conditions for their temporary stay. On the same day, the Russian Ambassador sent letters of gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in which he highly appreciated the humanity and efficiency of the Turkmen authorities in this situation.
