Turkmenistan and the ICRC discussed priorities for humanitarian cooperation

On 11 November 2025, a meeting was held between Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Deputy Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Central Asia Jamila Hammami. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

At the beginning of the conversation, Myahri Byashimova congratulated Jamila Hammami on her appointment to the new position and wished her success in her future work.

The parties noted the constructive nature of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ICRC, discussing the implementation of the Cooperation Plan for 2025, which provides for the promotion of international humanitarian law, support for socially vulnerable groups of the population and strengthening the activities of the National Society of the Red Crescent of Turkmenistan.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for Turkmenistan's participation in the Global Initiative to strengthen political commitment to international humanitarian law.

The interlocutors also discussed the participation of the ICRC delegation in events dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation in key areas of humanitarian partnership.
