A landmark event took place at the UN headquarters in New York – the Appeal of the participants of the Second Meeting of the Central Asian Youth Dialogue was officially published as a document of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly and Security Council. This step underscores the growing importance of the region's youth agenda at the global level. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
The event, held as part of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, was timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the historic UN Security Council Resolution 2250, which recognised for the first time the key role of youth in maintaining peace. Under the slogan ‘Voices of Youth for Peace and Trust’, the forum brought together representatives from 43 countries, including delegations from international organisations, youth movements and leading universities.
The Appeal adopted at the end of the meeting reflects the unified position of Central Asian youth on pressing global challenges. The document emphasises the importance of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, notes the contribution of Turkmenistan's neutral status to ensuring regional stability and calls for greater youth participation in decision-making processes.
The document pays special attention to the upcoming Youth Forum in Turkmenistan's ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone, which will be held in August 2025 as part of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This event is seen as a key platform for strengthening international youth cooperation.
The publication of the Appeal as an official UN document confirms the growing role of Central Asian youth in global processes and demonstrates recognition of Turkmenistan's peacekeeping initiatives on the international stage.
