Turkmenistan strengthens cooperation with the EU in energy and transport

Turkmenistan has expressed its readiness to actively participate in joint projects with the EU. This was announced after a meeting between the European Commission's Director-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) Peteris Ustubs and the ambassadors of Central Asian countries in Belgium, according to the IIC of Turkmenistan.

Sapar Palvanov, Turkmenistan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belgium, emphasised his country's desire to develop cooperation with the EU in the fields of transport, trade and energy.

The participants discussed the results of the first ‘Central Asia – EU’ summit, as well as preparations for the Investment and Economic Forums scheduled for November this year.

They also discussed expanding cooperation with the EIB and the EBRD. Turkmenistan and the EIB confirmed their intention to intensify the preparation of investment projects and memoranda of cooperation.
