On 30 September, at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan, a briefing was held dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, the results of the Halk Maslahaty meeting and the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by diplomats, representatives of international organisations, the media, public associations and Turkmen students studying in Uzbekistan.
Presentations were made by Shadurdy Meredov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sabine Mahle, UN Resident Coordinator, and Javlon Vakhobov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia.
Participants noted the achievements of Turkmenistan under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country's international initiatives at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, as well as key issues of social and economic development discussed at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan emphasised the significance of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the strengthening of international cooperation. Sabine Mahle highlighted the importance of the Awaza Programme of Action for 2024-2034 and the Political Declaration of the UN conference. Javlon Vakhobov noted the growth of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and wished for further strengthening of friendship between the countries.
