Training of national specialists continues in Turkmenistan as part of the country’s accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to the Orient news agency.
Within the framework of the project “Turkmenistan: Trade Resilience and Integration,” supported by the International Trade Centre (ITC), a two-day online course was held on May 25–26 for staff of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, as well as for faculty members and students of the Academy of State Service under the President of Turkmenistan.
The sessions were conducted by Professor Peter Van den Bosch, an expert in international economic law from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Participants studied key WTO mechanisms, including the dispute settlement system, trade policy review, and fundamental principles such as the most-favoured-nation treatment and national treatment.
Special attention was given to the stages of WTO accession and practical case studies on modelling changes in trade policy. The program aims to strengthen expert capacity and train personnel for the country’s integration into the global trading system.
