Turkmenistan Participates in Conference on Ancient Margiana in Switzerland

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the international conference “The Great Khorasan Civilization in Light of the Latest Excavations at the Togolok Archaeological Complex,” held in Bern, Switzerland, from June 12 to 14. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal.
The forum brought together leading researchers of the Margiana Civilization, which was located in the territory of present-day Turkmenistan. Participants included scholars from Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Switzerland.
The Turkmen delegation was represented by Muhammetdurdy Mamedov, Head of the National Department for the Protection, Study, and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments, and Annamyrat Orazov, Deputy Head of the Ancient Merv State Historical and Cultural Reserve.
During the conference, participants discussed the origins of ancient Margiana in light of new archaeological findings. According to the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the discussions focused on recently obtained archaeological data.
