President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking on 16 November at the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders in Tashkent, outlined the priority of developing the regional electricity sector and forming a multifunctional energy network. This was reported by the state news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The Head of State noted Turkmenistan's readiness to further discuss specific steps in the field of energy cooperation, including not only pipeline projects, but also the expansion of cooperation in the field of electric power.

‘We consider the creation of a large-scale network for the production, transmission and consumption of electricity in the region to be an important step. This will provide a reliable and sustainable basis for energy supply and protect the system from external risks,’ said Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
