The Director of the Historical and Local Lore Museum of the city of Arkadag, Nurmyrat Annacharyev, presented Turkmenistan’s experience at the First Forum of Museum Directors of Eurasian States, held from June 15 to 20 in Ulaanbaatar. This was reported by the IIC.
The main theme of the forum was the digital transformation of the museum sector, aimed at preserving cultural heritage and developing international cooperation.
In his speech, Nurmyrat Annacharyev noted that modern museums are becoming not only guardians of historical values but also scientific and educational centers. He spoke about the introduction of digital technologies at the Historical and Local Lore Museum of Arkadag, including the use of QR codes that allow visitors to access detailed information about exhibits via mobile devices.
The museum also employs multimedia solutions. At the entrance, screens have been installed showing video materials about the history and development of the city of Arkadag, while news and research results are published on the museum’s official website. According to forum participants, such technologies make museums more accessible and attractive to young people.
The speech also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in promoting national cultural heritage. As an example, the visit of participants of the 10th meeting of national commissions for UNESCO affairs of TURKSOY member states, held in May 2024, was mentioned.
Foreign delegates highly appreciated the technological equipment of the “smart” city of Arkadag and the museum’s exhibitions. International contacts contribute to the exchange of experience and strengthen the position of Turkmen museums on the global cultural stage.
