On 15 September, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Ulvi Fikret oglu Akhundlu, Ksenia Dashutsina and Martina Barker-Ciganikova, and representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The interlocutors emphasised Turkmenistan's contribution to strengthening peace, security and promoting the principle of neutrality, as well as its active cooperation with the UN and the OSCE.
They discussed improving the electoral system, including maintaining the State Register of Voters and ensuring transparency, security and legality when working with data.
It was noted that Turkmenistan has laws aimed at protecting human rights and gender equality, which continue to evolve in line with international experience.
