Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation Within the CIS Framework

On May 22, during the 60th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova held a meeting with Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Marlen Mamataliyev. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The parties noted the positive dynamics of interstate cooperation, which continues to develop with the support of the leadership of both countries in bilateral formats as well as on the platforms of international organizations. The important role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening these ties was emphasized.

The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation, including coordination of initiatives within international parliamentary structures, exchange of legislative experience, development of contacts between профиль committees, youth and women’s parliamentary associations, as well as the organization of mutual visits and delegation exchanges.

The significance of cooperation in the field of international law for further strengthening partnership and friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries was also highlighted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan invited the Kyrgyz side to take part in upcoming international events in Avaza and in the Consultative Meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
