President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, AsmanNews reports.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Kyrgyz leader for participating in the International Forum, noting his support for Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality. Sadyr Japarov, in turn, emphasized the importance of the upcoming Forum for strengthening peace and sustainable development and congratulated the Turkmen side on the anniversary of neutrality.

The Turkmen leader recalled that this year coincides with the 80th anniversary of the UN and the 30th anniversary of the country’s recognized neutral status. The Forum is expected to discuss current international issues.

The parties highlighted the friendly nature of relations between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, based on historical and cultural closeness and a shared commitment to joint development. During the talks, positive dynamics in bilateral trade and the potential for its expansion were noted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the leaders exchanged well-wishes and confirmed their readiness to further strengthen intergovernmental cooperation.
