On 14 October, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the South Korean company ‘Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.’ Jung Won-ju, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. The guest noted the steady development of partnership ties and thanked the Hero Arkadag for his personal contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.
During the conversation, it was emphasised that Korean companies have been successfully operating in Turkmenistan for many years, especially in the oil and gas and chemical industries. Jung Won-ju expressed the company's readiness to actively participate in the further modernisation of the country's chemical industry.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the strategic nature of Turkmen-Korean cooperation, based on mutual respect and trust. The National Leader of the Turkmen people spoke about national industrial development programmes and environmentally-oriented projects, including research into technologies for producing ‘green’ methanol from cotton stalks.
Particular attention was paid to joint initiatives between the ‘Türkmenhimiýa’ State Concern and ‘Daewoo’, as well as issues related to the introduction of innovations and compliance with environmental standards in the construction of new facilities.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further develop their partnership. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished Jung Won-ju success in his work and in the implementation of joint projects.
