Turkmenistan hosts meeting between Foreign Affairs Ministers of Turkmenistan and Lesotho

On 7 August, negotiations between Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho Lejone Mpotjoane took place in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. The meeting was held within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3). This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

During the negotiations, the parties expressed mutual interest in establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries in the near future. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation, including in such areas as agriculture and hydropower.

The Foreign Affairs Ministers stressed the importance of establishing a systematic dialogue between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries. They also exchanged views on cooperation within international organisations, primarily the UN. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support in the international arena to achieve sustainable development goals.
