Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during a government meeting on 20 June. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the IAEA, applying advanced international practices in the peaceful use of atomic energy in healthcare, agriculture, ecology and water management. Proposals have been prepared to expand the partnership, including the signing of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Country Framework Programme for Turkmenistan for 2025-2029, which defines priority areas and objectives for cooperation.

The issue of the country's accession to the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the organisation of the participation of a Turkmen delegation in the 69th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna are also being considered.

In addition, it was proposed to hold a regional seminar on nuclear material security in Ashgabat in November with the participation of experts from Central Asia, the Caucasus and Asia.

After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with international organisations and instructed to continue active work with the IAEA.
