On 3 July, talks were held in Khankendi between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov. The Head of Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Ministry conveyed greetings from Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to which the Head of Azerbaijan responded with warm wishes to the leadership and people of the friendly country. This was reported by the IIC.

Rashid Meredov highly appreciated the scale of reconstruction work in Karabakh, noting the natural beauty of the region. The sides confirmed the closeness of cultural and historical traditions linking the two peoples.

The interlocutors paid special attention to plans for joint projects in energy, logistics and education. It was noted that the upcoming Days of Turkmenistan Culture in Azerbaijan and the reciprocal event in Turkmenistan will be an important step in strengthening humanitarian ties between the two countries.
