Turkmenistan is expanding its foreign policy contacts

In April, Turkmenistan held a series of international meetings, visits, and forums. Issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed, including trade, transport, energy, and humanitarian ties. This was reported by TDH.

On April 1, a telephone conversation took place between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tunisia. Both sides confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation in political-diplomatic, economic, and cultural spheres. On the same day, a Turkmen delegation held talks in the Republic of Azerbaijan with representatives of the transport and economic sectors. Logistics and trade issues were discussed. On April 2 in Baku, the delegation took part in a meeting of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. The focus was on the development of economic ties and transport corridors.

From April 1 to 3, a Turkmen delegation participated in the “EnergyProm-2026” forum in Kazan. Issues related to energy development, digitalization, and infrastructure reliability were considered. A meeting was held between the energy ministers of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

In Ashgabat, the international exhibition “Cooperation and Development” was held on April 2–4. Around 100 companies participated. Opportunities for business partnerships were discussed.

On April 5, the Turkmen delegation took part in the “Central Asia–Afghanistan” dialogue in Kabul. Projects for Afghanistan’s reconstruction were discussed. On April 6, a telephone conversation took place between the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey. On the same day, a meeting was held with a representative of the Republic of Iraq. Prospects for cooperation were discussed.

On April 7, a telephone conversation was held between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko. From April 8 to 10, a Turkmen delegation worked in the Republic of Korea. Consultations, meetings, and participation in the regional “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” forum took place. Issues of further partnership were discussed.

In April, the National Leader of the Turkmen people paid a visit to the Republic of Austria. Meetings were held in Vienna with representatives of international organizations and the country’s leadership. Energy, climate, and sustainable development issues were discussed.

Active contacts continued at the level of international organizations. Meetings were held with representatives of UNESCO, the World Health Organization, UNDP, and other structures.

From April 15 to 17, a delegation from the People’s Republic of China visited Turkmenistan. Negotiations and a meeting of the intergovernmental committee were held. A number of documents were signed. A new stage in the development of the “Galkynyş” gas field was launched. Joint educational and medical projects were also opened.

On April 17–18, a Turkmen delegation took part in CIS meetings and a forum in Antalya. Issues of regional security, economy, and infrastructure were discussed. During the month, Turkmenistan also participated in an ESCAP session in Bangkok, where sustainable development and regional cooperation were considered.

In Ashgabat, negotiations were held with representatives of several countries and international organizations, as well as a business forum and an exhibition involving the People’s Republic of China. On April 29–30, meetings took place with representatives of the Seychelles and TURKSOY. Directions for further cooperation were discussed.
