Turkmenistan co-chaired the meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives to the CIS in Minsk

On 19 August 2025, a meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member States was held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk. Turkmenistan was represented at the event by its Permanent Representative to the CIS, Nazarguly Shagulyev, who acted as co-chair. This was reported by the online publication Turkmenportal.

The participants approved the draft agendas for the upcoming meetings of the Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers (9 October, Dushanbe), the Council of Heads of Government (29 September, Minsk) and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS (10 October, Dushanbe).

The summits are expected to discuss issues of scientific and technological cooperation, digitalisation of the economy, the CIS economic development strategy for 2026-2030, and adopt joint statements on the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The meeting served as a preparatory stage for key events of the Commonwealth at the end of 2025.
