On 6 June, Turkmenistan held celebrations dedicated to International Russian Language Day and the 226th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. The main event was the laying of flowers at the bust of the great poet, which was attended by students from the A.S. Pushkin joint Turkmen-Russian secondary school. This was reported by the IIC.

Young readers gave a heartfelt performance of the classic's poems, highlighting the importance of his work. Special emphasis was placed on the role of Pushkin's poetry during the Great Patriotic War, when the poet's lines helped to maintain spiritual fortitude both at the front and in the rear.

The event was a vivid demonstration of Turkmenistan's respectful attitude towards the Russian language and literary heritage. Participants in the solemn meeting emphasised that Pushkin's work continues to unite peoples, remaining relevant in the modern world.
