On 28 October 2026, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, met with Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, on the sidelines of the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The sides discussed the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including through parliamentary diplomacy and international organisations.

Dunyagozel Gulmanova highlighted the development of ties between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to the resolution “2028 – International Year of International Law”, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan. The Chairwoman of the Mejlis thanked Tajikistan for supporting the document, which aims to strengthen international law, global peace and security, and multilateral cooperation.

The participants emphasised the importance of mutual support for initiatives on international parliamentary platforms, exchanging experience in legislative work, strengthening ties between inter-parliamentary friendship groups and relevant committees, and organising mutual visits and meetings.

Dunyagozel Gulmanova invited Faizali Idizoda and representatives of the Tajik Parliament to participate in the Third Ashgabat Conference on “Promoting International Law in the Interests of Dialogue, Trust and Security within the OSCE”, a meeting of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, to be held as part of Turkmenistan’s 2026 CIS chairmanship, and the third meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments of the Member States of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, which will take place in a hybrid format.
